Magnolia Trail of Waco, Texas

As seen on HGTV’s Fixer Upper

March 25-28, 2018

Sun / Wed - 4 Days

Waco has long been known as the Heart of Texas. It’s home to a lively cultural district, Dr Pepper and Baylor University. But the town may now be best known as the home of HGTV Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines. A tour of Waco with local guides reveals many locations seen on the program and even passes by some of the renovated homes. An entire free day allows for shopping at the Magnolia Silos, located just blocks from your hotel, as well as several other stores featured on the show.

Arrive in Dallas and enjoy time to explore Grapevines’ quaint historic downtown area and a guided tour of the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District to learn about the authentic history of the cattle drive era and Texas.

Itinerary Hotels

Sun, Mar 25: Fly to Dallas, Texas and transfer to Historic Downtown Grapevine, a walkable, preserved historic area with winery tasting rooms, one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants and art galleries. Enjoy lunch on your own and time to explore at leisure. Check out the farmers market or try some wine ice cream at Sloan & Williams Winery before heading to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, once home to cowboys, cattlemen and outlaws. A guided tour provides a taste of the true American West and reveals the rich history of the area as well as the background of the “World’s Largest Honky Tonk,” Billy Bob’s Texas. Check in to the Hyatt Place Fort Worth Historic Stockyards for one night and enjoy a Welcome Dinner with the group at a local restaurant. (Meals: Dinner)

Mon, Mar 26: Depart Fort Worth for the Homestead Craft Village, a traditional crafts village offering demonstrations of woodworking, pottery making, fabric crafts, cheese making, basket weaving, iron work and more. Explore the shops with one-of-a-kind handcrafted items and enjoy a locally sourced lunch. Continue on to Waco for a guided tour and see the Suspension Bridge, historic homes and neighborhoods, Baylor University, Harp Design Co. and pass a few of the Fixer Upper homes. A highlight will be a stop at Jimmy Don Holmes’ JDH Iron Designs store and workshop, frequently featured on the show. Check in to the Hotel Indigo Waco-Baylor for two nights and enjoy the evening and dinner at leisure. (B,L)

Tue, Mar 27: Today is free to shop! Magnolia Market is just blocks from the hotel. Take your time shopping in the Market, playing games on the lawn, checking out the garden and dining at the food trucks located at the Silos. The free Silo District Downtown Trolley makes it easy to get around to the unique shops, many of which that have been featured on the show. Be sure to stop by the Waco Visitor Information Center and take a selfie with a life-size cutout of Chip & Joanna! (B)

Wed, Mar 28: Following breakfast depart for Dallas and fly home. (B)
